Kilometers for Karen
We come together to honor our mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, friend and genuine superhero, Karen Stone Korman.
Her battle may be over but there are many women still fighting:
--Ovarian cancer is the 5th leading cause of cancer-related death among women. It is the deadliest of all gynecologic cancers. (source: CDC)
--22,440 women will receive a new diagnosis of ovarian cancer in 2017 (source: American Cancer Society)
--14,080 women will die from ovarian cancer in 2017 (source: American Cancer Society)
--Only 15% of women are diagnosed at Stage 1. But if a woman is lucky enough to be diagnosed at this stage, she has a 92% survival rate. (source: Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance and American Cancer Society)
Karen was diagnosed at Stage 3C with only a 39% chance of a 5-year survival.
We knew the odds were stacked against her. But she fought as hard as she could for 4 long years. So we continue to fight for women like her who are still hoping to beat these devestating odds.
With research, funding, and early-detection advocacy and awareness, we can change these numbers. For our mothers. For our wives. For our sisters. For our daughters. For our aunts. For our friends.
Thank you for considering a donation that will change lives.
