This week's Teal Spotlight Teal Teachers.
Their team captain Lauren first heard about the Sandy Sprint after her sister was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. With her sister cancer free, she is now on a mission to make others aware of this disease, the symptoms of it, and to support those who continue to fight. She is passionate about spreading awareness and raising money for ovarian cancer research.
Teal Teachers include many family members, friends, co-workers, and students. They love dressing up in their superhero capes and masks. It’s a way to bring the whole team together. This year they hope to recruit 10 more walkers/runners. Lauren loves to get her students involved with the cause. “I’ve gotten them to participate by telling them how them could raise awareness of ovarian cancer and be a support to those who are going through it or those who lost loved ones to this cancer."
"They are looking forward to doing something for others, as teachers we give our lives every day to see people reach their full potential, to encourage children, to build them up, they are looking forward to doing this for women everywhere.”
